Staffordshire Police said thieves struck at Broughton Hall, near Eccleshall, the home of the former Phones4U chief, during Monday night.
A police spokesman said the occupants of the Jacobean mansion were home when the thieves struck.
Officers are appealing for anyone with any information or who saw anything suspicious to contact them.
Mr Caudwell runs Caudwell Children, a charity which provides for disabled children.
